Description

------------

A light blue glimmer flashes past, traveling freely and unhindered through the star-speckled deep black. Jumping into a new star system, the lambent aqua cyan vessel takes a brief repose in the orbit of a small, silvery moon.

In the distance was a blue planet, orbited by the argentate moon. Verdant continental landmasses sprawled across the former's surface of azure oceans. The cerulean sphere was half-bathed in white starlight emanating from the star system's sun, while its' side facing away from the alabaster star was cast in an ebony shadow.

A pearly, scintillating glitter, lightly dusted the pine-hued landmasses. It was a telltale sign the world was inhabited by sentient beings, who had discovered a way to illuminate their dark surroundings during the night cycles of their home.

The aqua cyan vessel smiles to herself, having observed the blue planet and its' denizens from her vantage near the silvery moon. In her opinion, the world's occupants were some of the most ordinary, yet extraordinary of any she had ever seen.

While capable of some relatively notable technological feats, these beings were bound to a single planet, and it seemed they could barely even manage that one. They were constantly bickering and fighting with each other, dividing themselves into fragmented groups whenever possible. What humble technology they possessed, they often abused, causing much disruption and destruction to the natural resources, flora, and other fauna of their homeworld. If they kept this up any longer, they were sure to self-destruct.

Yet despite this, there were a few that differed from the rest of their self-absorbed, blind, and insensitive brethren. This minority was fully awake, alert, aware, and alarmed to their current situation, and were making bold, valiant, and noble efforts, no matter how small or fruitless the results appeared to be, to change the course of their home's fate. And it looked as if a bit of their passion and energy was rubbing off on the others. Gradually an awakening amongst the majority could be seen, and more and more of them were beginning to make steps in the right direction.

Having rested from her jump into this star system, and satisfying her curiosity about the blue planet and it's inhabitants, the Angel powers ups. Dual auras of intensifying violet radiate larger and brighter as her engines melodiously hum with a richer and higher timbre. Soon she's ready to resume her journey.

With a fluid sweep of her feathery wings and tail, the Angel pivots around in a smooth and elegant fashion, eventually entering into a graceful glide. As she orients herself for a jump to her next destination, the Angel takes a quick glance back at the cerulean sphere, an expression of pity and empathy in her heart, for the occupants of that world.

There was still hope for them. Perhaps when she returned, they would have reversed their unsettled and tumultuous situation, to one of peace and harmony. Only time, and the unseen guidance of the Architect of Life would tell.

100% made with love, Procreate II, iPad III, and me trusty finger! ;p

Overall, I'm very happy with this piece. It's my first attempt at doing semi-realistic planets, which came out better than I anticipated! :la: I think the hardest part about making this piece was working with the Angel's wings and tail, I wanted to get their angle, positions and perspective right. That took me quite a few hours of drawing, redrawing, erasing, manipulating, duplicating, and layering for a couple of days. Was definitely worth it though! Phew! :faint:

This was also the first time I decided to try out the smudge tool in Procreate, and I'll have to say that was quite fun indeed! :D

Always learning new things as I do more art! Actually could be posting more of the works that I've done over the past few years, but I felt it'd be cool for you guys to see my latest art! ;p And besides, I feel it's better for me to post a few good quality pieces, than storm you guys with a bunch of random scribblings. ^^;

Anyways, I'd love to hear your thoughts! And I hope you enjoy viewing this piece as much as I enjoyed making it! :happybounce:

Onwards to great creativity, my friends! ;p

This is really cool! I love the design of the spaceship, it reminds me a lot of deepsea fish that glow, with the large wings and sleek glass body, and the spots of bright magenta and orange. it's a really nice and unique design, I like it a lot!

As lovely as the earth looks with how detailed it is, it's actually taking attention away from the ship. It has a lot of contrast and small details that she ship doesn't, but it definitely looks like the most important thing here that you want to draw attention to is the ship and it's design. If you're going for more of a landscape scenery type thing, you might want to have the ship less centered, so it's more of a unified image rather than a spec sheet for the ship, which is what it seems like this is? Either way, laying out your goals for something before you start can give it a better focus and you can make decisions that will add to the overall effect you want at the end, and the result will be a more striking piece. It will help to know going in whether you're planning on doing a landscape vs concept art, and picking what to work on based on what you're trying to accomplish, since this is kind of halfway between the two.

with how much time you put into the ship and the planets, i wish there was a little more variation in the stars in the background. I think varying the size of the stars, and arranging them more into clusters with some variation in color would help push them into the background a bit more and create a better sense of 3D space, since they looka bit like a flat wallpaper here. If you had a nice flow to them that brought attention back to the ship, it could be very effective! and painting space is super fun, too. :> overall a really nice job, keep at it!
